Healthcare/Non-Profit Controller

Our organization specializes in providing New York State Non-Profit Hospice organizations with outsourced Controller services. The successful candidate will serve in a virtual capacity, overseeing the financial management and reporting for 5-10 Hospices and/or other Non-Profit Organizations. While the primary role is that of a Controller, the candidate will also provide strategic financial guidance to senior leaders and non-profit board members.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial reporting, cash flow, and month-end close activities, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and regulations.
- Manage the organization’s budget, monitor its financial performance, and provide financial analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
- Lead the accounting team in delivering timely results for each client organization, ensuring compliance with sales tax, 1099 filings, and other financial regulations.
- Conduct regular meetings with CEOs and senior management, presenting monthly financial results to Finance and Board Committees.
- Perform business analysis to identify growth opportunities and areas of improvement.
- Review and approve payroll and accounts payable transactions; coordinate with audit teams on annual deliverables.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all financial documents, including cost reports and tax filings.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, fostering strong relationships with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Support staff and intern development through training and mentorship while actively participating in community-focused team-building initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant designation.
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for backgrounds in Non-Profit accounting or related Health Care industries.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for a professional environment.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, along with a history of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits.
- Proficient time management skills, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to foster client relationships and deliver superior customer service.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Brightree/Matrix Electronic Medical Record System, and web-based payroll platforms like Gusto and Paylocity.
- Proven expertise in implementing efficient workflows, procedures, or software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- QuickBooks Online certification
- Experience with Multi-View Hospice Benchmarking systems (MVI)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive Salary: Range ($85,000-$130,000) Determined based on experience.
